3. Technical Compatibility Matrix
| Feature | Details |
| Chassis | X166 (GLS-Class Facelift 2016–2019) |
| Material | High-grade Polypropylene (PP) |
| Retrofit Fitment | Direct fit for GLS 350d, 400, 450, and 550 models |
| Exhaust Note | Requires “63 style” muffler tips to align with the diffuser outlets |
4. Important Retrofit Notes
⚠️ Fitment Warnings:
GL vs. GLS: While the chassis is similar, the Pre-facelift GL (2012–2015) has different headlight and hood shut-lines. To install a GLS 63 bumper on an older GL, you must also swap the headlights, grille, and hood.
Wheel Arch Extensions: A genuine GLS 63 front bumper is slightly wider than the standard GLS bumper. Without the matching AMG fender flares, the bumper may appear to “poke out” past the bodywork.
Tow Hitch (Code 550): If your vehicle has a factory tow bar, you must ensure the rear diffuser has the specific cutout for the hitch, otherwise it will require manual modification.
5. Essential Installation Checklist
A complete “take-off” or new set should include:
-
Bumper Skins: Front and Rear (Primed or Painted).
-
Inner Grilles: Left, right, and center honeycomb mesh.
-
Impact Absorbers: Foam inserts for safety compliance.
-
Exhaust Tips: 4x Tips with mounting brackets.
-
Parktronic Holders: Brackets to secure your existing PDC sensors.
