Maserati Levante Ghibli Quattroport Lenkrad Carbon Steering Wheel
For the Maserati Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte, a Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel is the most impactful interior upgrade you can make. Because these three models share a common steering wheel architecture (post-2014), the parts are often interchangeable across the lineup.
In 2026, you generally have two paths: an OEM+ Refurbished Wheel or a Full Custom Aftermarket Unit.
1. The “OEM Core” Custom Wheel
The highest quality wheels use a genuine Maserati factory core that has been stripped and rebuilt. This ensures that your airbag, multifunction buttons, and internal wiring fit perfectly without safety risks.
2. The LED “Race Display” Upgrade
A popular 2026 tech addition is the LED Shift Light & LCD Display embedded in the top carbon rim.
-
Functionality: Connects via a wireless OBD2 Dongle.
-
Data Displayed: * Real-time RPM (LED bar changes from Green to Red).
-
Engine Temperature / Water Temperature.
-
Current Speed ($km/h$ or $mph$).
-
Turbo Boost Pressure and Battery Voltage.
-
0–100 $km/h$ timer and lap times.
-
3. Compatibility Across Models
Maserati refined the steering wheel designs over the years. When sourcing a wheel, check your car’s year:
-
Pre-2017 Models: Usually feature the older button layout.
-
2017–2026 Models: Feature the updated “scroll-wheel” and refined button clusters.
-
Note on Heating: If your car has a Heated Steering Wheel, most carbon fiber upgrades will lose this function unless you specifically order a wheel with a “heating retention” heating element embedded under the leather side grips (usually a $+€300$ option).
4. Installation & Safety
-
Airbag Transfer: You must transfer your original airbag. In Maserati models, the airbag is held by two spring clips accessible through small holes on the side of the wheel housing.
-
Paddle Shifters: If your car has the column-mounted aluminum paddles (standard on many Ghibli/Levante trims), they remain in place. If you have wheel-mounted paddles, you can upgrade them to Extended Carbon Fiber Paddles at the same time.
-
Professional Tip: Disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes before removing the airbag to prevent an “Airbag Malfunction” light or accidental deployment.
