PORSCHE CAYENNE 7P5 BRAKE SYSTEM BRAKE CALIPERS DISCS
For the Porsche Cayenne (958 / 7P5 generation, 2011–2018), the braking system is a heavy-duty Brembo-sourced setup designed to handle the vehicle’s significant weight and towing capacity. Like other Porsches of this era, the color of the calipers serves as a direct indicator of the performance level and disc material.
1. Brake System Hierarchy (Caliper Colors)
| Caliper Color | Model / Option | Disc Material | Typical Wheel Size |
| Black | Cayenne Base / Diesel | Cast Iron (Standard) | 18″ Minimum |
| Silver | Cayenne S / S Hybrid | Cast Iron (Upgraded) | 18″ Minimum |
| Red | Cayenne GTS / Turbo | Large Cast Iron | 19″ Minimum |
| White | PSCB (Surface Coated) | Tungsten Carbide | 20″ Minimum |
| Yellow | PCCB (Ceramic) | Carbon-Ceramic | 20″ Minimum |
2. Disc Specifications by Model
The 958 uses a staggered diameter setup in most configurations to maintain a forward brake bias.
-
Cayenne Base / Diesel:
-
Front: $350\text{mm} \times 34\text{mm}$ (6-piston caliper)
-
Rear: $330\text{mm} \times 28\text{mm}$ (4-piston caliper)
-
-
Cayenne S / GTS / Turbo:
-
Front: $360\text{mm} \times 36\text{mm}$ (6-piston caliper)
-
Rear: $330\text{mm} \times 28\text{mm}$ (4-piston caliper)
-
-
Cayenne Turbo S / Turbo (with Power Kit):
-
Front: $390\text{mm} \times 38\text{mm}$ (6-piston caliper)

Rear: $358\text{mm} \times 28\text{mm}$ (4-piston caliper)
-
-
PCCB (Yellow Caliper Upgrade):
-
Front: $420\text{mm} \times 40\text{mm}$ (Huge 10-piston caliper on Turbo S models)

3. Key Maintenance Components
-
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): Unlike the earlier 955/957 models which used a foot-operated pedal, the 7P5 (958) uses an electronic switch. You must use a diagnostic tool to put the rear calipers into “Assembly Position” before changing the rear pads.
-
Pads & Wear Sensors: Each caliper has a dedicated wear sensor. These are “single-use” items; once the dashboard light triggers, the sensor’s loop is broken and it must be replaced along with the pads.
-
Master Cylinder: The 958 uses a large 28.57mm master cylinder to provide the high hydraulic pressure needed for the multi-piston Brembo units.
4. OEM Part Numbers (General Reference)
-
Front Brake Pads (360mm System):
958.698.151.B -
Rear Brake Pads (Standard):
958.698.451 -
Front Caliper (Turbo/Red – Left):
7P5.615.123.BC -
Brake Fluid: Porsche specifies DOT 4 Low Viscosity (LV). Using standard high-viscosity DOT 4 can cause sluggish ABS/PSM response in cold weather.
