GMC Sierra 2019 Seats Interior Rear Bench Door Panels

2019 GMC Sierra 1500, it is critical to distinguish between the “Limited” (K2 platform) and the “Next Generation” (T1 platform). Since 2019 was a transition year, the interior components are not interchangeable between these two body styles.

The following details focus on the T1 Platform (Next Gen), which represents the major redesign for the 2019+ models.

1. Front Seats

The T1 Sierra interior was redesigned for increased legroom and modularity.

  • Trim Variations: * Base/SLE: Usually manually adjustable cloth or 10-way power cloth.

    • SLT/AT4/Denali: Perforated leather with heating and ventilation. Denali trims feature unique “Forge” leather patterns and contrast stitching.

  • Safety Tech: Most 2019+ seats include the Safety Alert Seat (haptic vibration motors in the bolsters) and side-impact airbags.

  • Center Console: Models with bucket seats have a full flow-through console, while “Bench” models (40/20/40) have a fold-down center armrest with integrated storage.

2. Rear Bench (Crew Cab vs. Double Cab)

The 2019 redesign significantly increased rear legroom in the Crew Cab (by nearly 3 inches).

  • 60/40 Split-Fold: Standard on most trims, allowing the bottom cushion to flip up for floor storage.

  • In-Seat Storage: A key feature introduced in 2019—the outboard rear seatbacks have hidden “secret” compartments behind the backrest cushions.

  • Fold-Down Armrest: Higher trims (SLT and up) include a center armrest with dual cupholders.

  • Fitment Warning: Crew Cab and Double Cab rear seats are not interchangeable. The Double Cab seat bottom is shorter and the backrest angle is more vertical.

3. Door Panels (Door Cards)

The 2019+ panels moved toward a more angular, “truck-centric” aesthetic.

  • Materials: * AT4: Features distinct Kalahari (tan) accents and darkened trim.

    • Denali: Real open-pore wood inserts and premium stitching on the armrests.

  • Speaker Grilles: Premium models feature the Bose® Premium Sound System metal grilles.

  • Rear Panels: Crew Cab rear door panels are significantly longer than Double Cab panels and include deep map pockets.

Technical Inspection & Removal

Component Common Issues / Inspection Tools Required
Front Seats Test the seat-heater pads (common failure point). Check the plastic “side shields” for cracks. 15mm Socket (Floor) / T50 Torx
Rear Bench Inspect the child seat tether anchors and the plastic “litter” tray under the seat. 18mm Socket
Door Panels Check the “window switch” bezel clips; they often break if pried incorrectly. 7mm & 10mm Sockets

Inventory Identification

  • Part Number Prefix: Most 2019+ (T1) interior parts begin with 84- or 85-.

  • Compatibility: 2019–2021 parts are generally identical. In 2022, GMC performed a “Mid-Cycle Refresh” which completely changed the dashboard and door panel design for higher trims (Elevation and up).
