Jeep Wrangler JL Overland Interior Seats Door Panels

Jeep Wrangler JL Overland (introduced in 2018) was designed as the “refined” trim level, sitting between the Sahara and the Rubicon. While it shares the rugged DNA of the Wrangler, the Overland interior focuses on upgraded materials and premium aesthetics suitable for both daily driving and light trails.

For inventory or restoration, it is important to distinguish the Overland components from the standard Sport or the technical Rubicon trims.

1. Front Seats

The Overland seats are designed for comfort over long distances while maintaining the durability required for an open-top vehicle.

• Material: Most Overland models feature McKinley Leather-trimmed seats with accent stitching.

• Embroidered Branding: Many versions feature an “Overland” logo embroidered into the upper seatback.

• Adjustability: Standard 6-way manual driver’s seat and 4-way manual passenger seat (to allow for full wash-out capability).

• Heated Elements: Most Overland packages include the Cold Weather Group, featuring heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

• Safety: Integrated side airbags are standard in the seat bolsters.

2. Rear Bench (Unlimited 4-Door vs. 2-Door)

The rear seating configuration depends entirely on the wheelbase:

• Unlimited (4-Door): A 60/40 split-fold bench. In the Overland, this usually includes a fold-down center armrest with dual cupholders—a feature often missing on base Sport trims.

   

• 2-Door: A specialized fold-and-tumble bench designed to maximize cargo space.

• Durability: The seatbacks are typically ruggedized with a plastic or heavy-duty vinyl backing to handle gear when folded flat.

3. Door Panels (Door Cards)

The JL door panels were a major upgrade over the previous JK generation, offering better ergonomics and storage.

• Overland Trim Accents: These often feature wrapped grab handles with contrast stitching and premium inserts that match the dashboard’s mid-bolster.

• Storage Nets: The lower map pockets use high-tension elastic netting. Check these for “sagging” in used units, as they are a common wear item.

• Removability: Like all Wrangler doors, the panels house the connectors for the power windows and locks, which are designed for frequent disconnection when the doors are removed.

• 2018–2023 (Pre-Refresh): The Overland was a staple trim. Components are generally interchangeable across these years.

• 2024+ (Refresh): Jeep updated the interior with a new 12.3-inch screen and introduced Power Seats on higher trims. If you are sourcing 2024+ seats, the wiring harness is significantly different from the 2018–2023 manual seats.

• Gladiator (JT) Cross-Over: The front seats and front door panels from a Jeep Gladiator Overland are a direct physical match for the Wrangler JL.
