Ford F150 Harley-Davidson Instrument Cluster

Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition (produced between 2000–2012) features some of the most distinct instrument clusters in the F-Series lineup. Because these were limited-edition trucks, the clusters are highly sought after by collectors and for “clone” builds.

Below is the technical breakdown of the different Harley-Davidson (HD) cluster generations and their specific identifiers.

1. 10th Generation (2000–2003)

This is the era of the “Jeweled” cluster. These units are physically interchangeable with 1997–2003 F-150s and Expeditions but have unique cosmetic signatures.

  • Visuals: Features spun-metal (silver/chrome) gauge faces and a “Harley-Davidson” script on the speedometer or tachometer.

  • Odometer: 2000–2001 models typically have an analog rolling odometer, while 2002–2003 moved to a digital LCD readout.

  • Technical Note: These clusters contain the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) data. If you swap a used HD cluster into a standard F-150, the truck will not start until the cluster is programmed to your keys and PCM.

2. 11th Generation (2006–2008)

After a short hiatus, the HD returned with a more modern “Luxury” look.

  • Part Number Prefix: Often starts with 6L34-10849-JA (for 2006).

  • Visuals: Features a blacked-out face with chrome trim rings and a distinct “Harley-Davidson” Bar & Shield logo centered at the bottom of the cluster.

  • Interchange: These fit the 2004–2008 F-150 platform. However, the HD edition was primarily a SuperCab (2006) or SuperCrew (2007–2008), so ensure the door-ajar logic matches your cab configuration.

3. 12th Generation (2010–2012)

The final factory HD trucks featured the most advanced analog/digital hybrid clusters of that era.

  • Display: 2011–2012 models include the 4.2-inch Productivity Screen in the center, which features a custom Harley-Davidson startup animation.

  • Aesthetics: The gauge needles are typically orange or red, and the background texture often mimics the “snakeskin” or engine-turned patterns found on the truck’s leather interior.

  • Part Numbers: High-value SKUs like CL3Z-10849-EA are specific to the 6.2L V8 engine used in these final years.

Technical Inspection & Resale Checklist

If you are sourcing a used Harley-Davidson cluster for your inventory, verify these four critical points:

Checkpoint What to Look For
PATS Marriage For 2000–2003 models, the cluster is “married” to the key. You will need a locksmith or Ford IDS software to perform a “Parameter Reset.”
Backlighting These used incandescent bulbs behind the face. Check for dark spots; if the spun-metal face is present, replacing these with LEDs can cause “hot spots” due to the reflective surface.
Lens Clarity The “Jeweled” faces of the early 2000s clusters are very sensitive to scratches. Avoid using harsh chemicals on the clear plastic lens.
Odometer Mileage Mileage is stored locally in the cluster. If you swap a 50k-mile cluster into a 150k-mile truck, it will display 50k. This must be corrected to legal standards.
