Aston Martin Vantage V8 Grille Rear Bumper

On the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (2005–2018), the “rear bumper grille” actually refers to a set of three specific mesh inserts located in the lower section of the rear bumper (the diffuser area).

These are high-exposure parts that often suffer from stone chips or “scabby” corrosion over time.

1. Component Breakdown

The rear mesh is divided into three distinct pieces. The part numbers vary slightly depending on whether your car is a Manual or Sportshift (ASM) model, as the ASM cars often require different cooling airflow.

  • Center Mesh: 6G33-01950-AE (Standard) or BG33-501T0-AA (ASM/V8S)

  • Left Hand (LH) Mesh: 6G33-01949-AE

  • Right Hand (RH) Mesh: 6G33-01948-AE

2. The “N420” / Carbon Upgrade

Many owners replace the standard black plastic or painted mesh with the Carbon Fiber Diffuser Grille (6G33-78-10514). This was standard on the N420 and V8 Vantage S models. It replaces the mesh with a more aggressive horizontal slat or carbon-weave surround.

3. Installation & Removal (The “Trap”)

If you are planning to replace these yourself, be aware that it is more difficult than it looks:

  • Access: While the center mesh can sometimes be reached by removing the lower diffuser blade, the outer (LH/RH) grilles are held in by bolts that are blocked by the bumper’s internal structure.

  • Bumper Removal: In most cases, you must remove the entire rear bumper to access the mounting screws for the mesh. This involves removing the taillights and the rear wheel arch liners first.

  • Hardware: They are typically held in by M6 Torx screws (6G33FA0115ABPK) and “U-type” spring nuts. These are prone to rusting and often snap during removal; it is wise to have a bag of replacement M6 clips ready.

4. Maintenance Tip

Because these grilles are made of expanded steel/aluminum and painted, they often show white oxidation.

  • In-Situ Fix: If you don’t want to pull the bumper, many owners use a small brush and POR-15 or a high-quality satin black trim paint to “refresh” the mesh while it’s still on the car.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft-bristle wheel brush to clear out road debris that gets trapped behind the mesh, as this moisture trap is what causes the corrosion.
