ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE V8 Left Fender
Aston Martin V8 Vantage, the “Left Fender” (commonly referred to in the UK as the Front Left Wing) is a critical body component. Depending on the generation of your Vantage, the part, material, and cost vary significantly.
1. First Generation (2005–2018)
For the VH-platform Vantage (4.3L and 4.7L), the fender is a beautifully sculpted piece of aluminum.
-
Part Number: 6G33-16006-AL (Current revision).
-
Interchangeability: The 4.3L and 4.7L V8 Vantage share the same fender. The V12 Vantage fender is physically similar but often features different mounting points or pre-cut apertures for the V12’s specific side strakes and larger cooling requirements.
-
The “Side Strake” Detail: The fender houses the iconic side strake (the horizontal “blade”). If you are replacing the fender, you will typically need to transfer your existing strake and side-repeater indicator, as new fenders are supplied as a bare “skin.”
-
Cost: * New OEM: ~$2,500 – $3,000 (supplied in primer).
-
Used: $500 – $900 (Condition is key; look for “ears” or mounting tabs that aren’t bent).
-
2. Second Generation (AM6, 2018–2025)
The current Vantage moved toward a more integrated design. While the main body is bonded aluminum, several panels are composite/plastic for weight reduction and pedestrian safety.
-
Part Number: JY53-16006-AB (standard V8).
-
Design: These fenders integrate the “Curlicue” aero vent—a large cutout behind the wheel arch that extracts high-pressure air.
-
Material: High-grade composite. Unlike the older aluminum wings, these cannot be “panel beaten” easily; if they are cracked or heavily impacted, replacement is usually the only option.
-
S-Model / 2025: The 2025 facelift has a wider front track. The fenders are slightly more flared compared to the 2018–2024 “base” model.
Important Notes for Installation
-
Bonded Structure: The Vantage does not use a simple “bolt-on” method like a mass-market car. While the top edges are bolted, the lower sections and inner liners often use structural adhesive and specialized shims to achieve the perfect “Aston gap” alignment.
-
Corrosion Warning (Older Models): On 2005–2010 models, check the mounting points where the aluminum fender meets the steel/alloy substructure. Without proper isolation washers, galvanic corrosion can occur, leading to bubbling paint around the bolts.
-
Side Repeaters: When swapping a fender, be careful with the side-marker wiring. The clips holding the side strakes are fragile; it’s recommended to buy a set of new plastic clips ($15) rather than trying to reuse old, brittle ones.
