BMW 7 Series G70 Headlights Full LED Right Left Complete
Primary Part Numbers: 5A26B33 (Left) / 5A26B34 (Right) (Note: Part numbers may vary slightly based on specific Shadowline or Swarovski “Iconic Glow” options)
The G70 7 Series utilizes a radical split-headlight architecture. The upper slim modules serve as the “Iconic Glow” daytime running lights and turn signals, while the larger lower units (the primary headlight modules) house the Full LED Matrix projectors. These lower modules are recessed and darkened to give the front fascia a clean, monolithic appearance.
Technical Specifications
-
Compatibility: BMW 7 Series (G70) and i7 (G70) Sedan (2023–Present).
-
Technology: Full LED Matrix with BMW Selective Beam (Non-Dazzling High Beam).
-
Optics: Precision-engineered reflectors and projection lenses for maximum light throw and sharp cut-offs.
-
Adaptive Functions: Includes cornering lights, speed-dependent light distribution, and bad-weather lighting.
Key Features
-
Matrix LED Technology: These units feature a high number of individually addressable LED segments. By communicating with the KAFAS camera system, they can “cut out” oncoming vehicles from the high-beam pattern while keeping the rest of the road brightly illuminated.
-
Shadowline Integration: Most units feature the M Sport Shadowline finish, characterized by darkened internal housings that contrast with the bright LED projection elements.
-
Swarovski “Iconic Glow” Synergy: While the primary illumination comes from these lower units, they are designed to work in visual harmony with the optional Swarovski crystal upper DRLs, creating a distinct lighting signature.
-
Thermal Protection: Advanced active cooling prevents the high-output LED arrays from overheating during prolonged night driving or in high-ambient-temperature climates.
Professional Installation & Technical Requirements
The G70 chassis is highly complex, and replacing the headlight modules requires advanced technical intervention:
-
VIN Encoding: These headlights are networked components. They must be registered and coded to the vehicle’s Central Gateway (ZGW) using BMW ISTA software. Without this, the Matrix functions and adaptive leveling will not operate.
-
Control Module Transfer: “Complete” units typically include the LED driver modules and fans. If you are reusing modules from a damaged housing, the seals must be inspected; even microscopic moisture ingress can destroy the internal circuitry of a G70 headlight.
-
Beam Alignment: Due to the height and power of the G70’s lighting system, vertical and horizontal calibration is mandatory using a digital beam setter to comply with ECE/SAE regulations and ensure maximum visibility without blinding other motorists.
