BMW F32 M4 F82 Headlights Full Adaptive LED LCI Right Left
The LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) “Icon” headlights are the most sought-after lighting upgrade for the F32 4 Series and F82 M4. Released for the 2018 model year, these units moved away from the traditional circular “Corona Rings” to a more aggressive, hexagonal “Iconic” DRL design. These are Full Adaptive LED units, meaning they use LED technology for all light functions, including high/low beams, turn signals, and cornering lights.
Technical Specifications
-
Compatibility: * BMW 4 Series (F32 Coupe, F33 Convertible, F36 Gran Coupe) LCI 2018–2020.
-
BMW M4 (F82/F83) LCI 2018–2020.
-
Retrofittable to Pre-LCI (2014–2017) models with specialized wiring harnesses and coding
-
-
Technology: Full LED with Selective Beam (Anti-dazzle).
-
Design: Hexagonal “Iconic” 3D Daytime Running Lights.
-
Turn Signal: Integrated LED “eyebrow” above the main projectors.
Key Performance Features
-
BMW Selective Beam: These are “intelligent” headlights. When the high beams are active, the system can create a “tunnel” of darkness around oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead while keeping the rest of the road fully illuminated.
-
Predictive Cornering: By communicating with the steering angle sensor and the GPS (on equipped models), the internal LED projectors swivel into corners before the car even begins to turn.
-
Color Temperature: Produces a crisp $6000\text{K}$ white light, which is closer to natural daylight than xenon or halogen, significantly reducing eye fatigue during long night drives.
-
Speed-Dependent Aim: The light pattern automatically widens at lower city speeds for better sidewalk visibility and narrows/lengthens at highway speeds for maximum reach.
Installation & Retrofit Information
If you are selling or installing these as a “Complete” set, keep the following technical requirements in mind:
-
Module Configuration: A “Complete” unit must include the LED Main Light Modules, the Cornering Light Modules, and the DRL/Turn Signal Modules (mounted to the exterior of the housing).
-
Coding (VO Coding): Even on LCI vehicles, if these are replacement units, they must be “taught” to the car’s FEM (Front Body Electronics Module). For Pre-LCI retrofits, the vehicle’s VO (Vehicle Order) must be modified to include option code $552$ (Adaptive LED).
-
Hardware Note: The LCI units use different mounting brackets and connectors than the early Xenon versions. If retrofitting to an older M4, a specific pinning change at the headlight connector is usually required.
