The G05 X5 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse), launched in 2023 for the 2024 model year, introduced a significantly sharper front-end design. The “Arrow” DRLs: The LCI update moved away from the previous hexagonal DRLs to a dual “arrow” shape pointing outwards. Iconic Glow Grille: If your package includes the illuminated grille, ensure the wiring pigtail and relay are included; otherwise, the lighting element will not function on a standard non-illuminated base.

30d Cooling Architecture: The 30d Mild-Hybrid uses an active shutter system behind the kidney grilles. These shutters are motorized and crucial for engine temperature management; always check that the shutter motor (actuator) is included and undamaged.
Retrofit Guide: Pre-LCI (2019–2023) to LCI
Critical Compatibility Warning:
No Partial Swaps: The LCI headlights are 35mm slimmer than the original G05 units. You cannot fit LCI lights into a pre-LCI bumper. You must replace the Bumper, Headlights, and Kidney Grilles as a complete set.
Bonnet Shut-lines: While the LCI bonnet is physically similar, the leading edge is contoured differently to meet the new, larger kidney grille.
Coding: The G05 LCI uses a newer communication protocol for the headlights. Retrofitting to an older car requires a specialized “CAN-bus” adapter and extensive ECU coding to avoid permanent lighting errors.
