BMW M3 G80 M4 G82 Engine Control Unit 5A40A24 2x Key BDC SET
DME ECU | BDC Module | 2x Key Fobs | Part #5A40A24
This is a complete, synchronized Security & Engine Control Set for the BMW G80 M3 and G82 M4 equipped with the S58 engine. Because modern BMW security (Comfort Access and Immobilizer) is cryptographically bound across multiple modules, purchasing a “matched set” is the only way to swap an engine or major electronics without requiring a specialized (and expensive) FEMTO unlock or cloud-based factory synchronization. Why You Need the Full “Set”
In the G-Chassis architecture, the vehicle’s ISN (Individual Serial Number) is shared between the DME (Engine Computer) and the BDC (Body Module).
-
Plug & Play Capability: By swapping all three components (ECU, BDC, and Keys) simultaneously from the same donor vehicle, you bypass the “anti-theft” lockout. This allows the vehicle to start immediately without a dealer-level re-match.
-
Component 5A40A24: This specific ECU part number is widely used in the 2021–2024 S58 production run. It is the high-security Bosch unit that typically requires a “bench unlock” if you were to tune it.
-
BDC Module: This unit acts as the gatekeeper for all interior electronics, lighting, and keyless entry (Comfort Access).
Installation & Coding Notes
Professional Warning:
VIN Mismatch: While the car will start and run with this set, your vehicle will still show a “VIN Mismatch” in diagnostic scans (like ISTA). To fix this, you may need a coder to change the VIN in the BDC’s EEPROM.
Mileage: The vehicle’s mileage is stored in the BDC. If the donor BDC has higher mileage than your car, your odometer will automatically jump forward to match the donor.
Donor Condition: Always ensure the donor car was not in a flood. BDC modules are located in the passenger footwell and are highly sensitive to water damage.
