2. Key Features & Visual Modes

The Live Cockpit Professional changes its layout based on the Driving Experience Toggle:

• COMFORT: Classic layout with a focus on navigation and media.

• SPORT: Gauges turn Red; the speedometer becomes a digital readout, and a G-force meter or boost gauge is often displayed.

• ECO PRO: Gauges turn Blue; focus shifts to efficiency, hybrid energy flow, and “bonus” range.

• Map Integration: The central area displays a high-resolution 3D map, which syncs with the central MGU display.

3. Head-Up Display (HUD) Synchronization

When paired with the HUD (Option S610), the cluster offloads specific information to the windshield:

• Speed & Speed Limits: Read via the KAFAS camera system.

• Check Control Messages: Warnings for low fuel, tire pressure, or open doors.

• Entertainment Lists: Scroll through radio stations or tracks using the steering wheel thumbwheel without looking down.

• Navigation: Detailed lane-change instructions and junction views.

4. Technical Hardware (The MGU Link)

The digital cluster is not a standalone computer; it is a display slave to the MGU (Media Graphic Unit):

• Connection: Uses an OABR (Automotive Ethernet) or high-speed LVDS connection for lag-free rendering.

• Driver Attention Camera: Located at the top center of the cluster, this infrared camera monitors the driver’s eyes for the Extended Traffic Jam Assistant and fatigue alerts.

5. Retrofit & Coding Warning

⚠️ Crucial Information for Retrofits:

1. Mileage Lock: Once a digital cluster is installed and driven, it “marries” to the vehicle’s VIN. Buying a used cluster requires “virginizing” the EEPROM chip to prevent a red tamper dot and mileage discrepancies.

2. MGU Requirement: You cannot install this digital cluster in a car equipped with the older EntryNav2 or NBT Evo head units. You must have the MGU ID7/ID8 hardware.

3. FSC Codes: Specific features (like map display) require valid FSC (Feature Software Certificate) codes to be injected into the MGU.
