Part Number: 9005.0541 (Iveco Cross-Ref: 5802341541 / 5801755141) Application: Iveco Daily VI / VII (2014–Present) Engine: 3.0 HPi / HPT (F1C Engine Series) Transmission: ZF 8HP (Hi-Matic) 8-Speed Automatic

The 9005.0541 is the high-efficiency heat exchanger designed specifically for the ZF Hi-Matic transmission found in the 2020 Iveco Daily. Because the 3.0L engine is often used in heavy-duty applications (up to 7.2-ton chassis or towing), the transmission fluid requires a dedicated cooling circuit to prevent thermal breakdown of the synthetic oil during high-load hauling.

Technical Specifications

  • Construction: Aluminum plate-and-fin heat exchanger.

  • Installation Position: Typically mounted to the side of the engine block or integrated into the radiator shroud depending on the specific wheelbase configuration.

  • Cooling Media: Liquid-to-Liquid (Transmission fluid cooled by engine coolant).

  • Connections: * 2x Quick-release ports for transmission oil lines.

    • 2x Coolant inlet/outlet ports.

Key Performance Features

  • Hi-Matic Optimization: Specifically calibrated for the flow rates of the ZF 8-speed gearbox. It ensures the transmission reaches operating temperature quickly in winter (via the engine coolant) and stays below 100°C under heavy summer loads.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Salt-spray tested aluminum alloy to withstand the harsh environments typical of commercial van usage.

  • Pressure Rating: Designed to handle the high-pressure surges of the ZF internal pump during aggressive downshifting or “Power” mode engagement.

Professional Installation & Maintenance

  1. The “Pink Milkshake” Warning: This is a liquid-to-liquid cooler. If the internal plates fail due to corrosion or poor quality coolant, engine coolant will mix with transmission fluid. If you see “strawberry milkshake” textured fluid in the transmission or coolant reservoir, stop the engine immediately. This cross-contamination will destroy the ZF clutch packs within miles.

  2. O-Ring Replacement: When installing the 9005.0541, always use new Viton O-rings on the transmission line connectors. Reusing old, flattened seals is the #1 cause of slow “weeping” leaks on these Iveco units.

  3. Flushing: If the previous transmission failed mechanically, the cooler must be replaced or professionaly ultrasonic-flushed. Metal shavings from a burnt gearbox often get trapped in the narrow plates of this cooler, which will then contaminate your new or replacement transmission.

  4. Tightening Torques: If the cooler mounts directly to the engine or a bracket, ensure the bolts are torqued to 20–25 Nm. Over-tightening can warp the aluminum mating surface, leading to a coolant leak.

Inventory Tip: This part number is high-demand for delivery fleets (Amazon/DHL spec) that use the Hi-Matic gearbox, as these coolers are often damaged in minor front-end collisions or through internal clogging over 150,000 km.
