1. Choosing the Right RXT Tier

For the C7 manual (7-speed), you must select the kit based on the vehicle’s power level. Both kits listed below are compatible with the 8-bolt crankshaft found on the LT1 and LT4 engines.

Feature McLeod RXT (Standard) McLeod RXT 1200 (HD)
Horsepower Rating Up to 1,000 HP Up to 1,200 HP
Disc Material Ceramic Ceramic (Higher Clamp Load)
Flywheel Type Billet Steel or Aluminum Billet Steel (Recommended for Street)
Best For Supercharged/ProCharged LT1s Heavily modified Z06s (LT4)

2. Essential Kit Components

When sourcing or selling these as “complete” luxury units, ensure the kit includes the 8-Bolt Billet Flywheel. Many generic listings omit the flywheel, but the C7’s recessed crank requires the McLeod-specific 8-bolt match.

  • Steel Flywheel (RXT 6406807M): Best for street use; maintains inertia for smooth take-offs.

  • Aluminum Flywheel (RXT 6306807M): Reduces rotating mass for faster revs; ideal for road racing/track builds.

  • Included Hardware: Pressure plate, two ceramic discs, floater plate, and the pilot alignment tool.

3. Installation & “While You’re In There” Parts

The C7 transaxle layout makes clutch replacement a labor-intensive “torque tube down” job. To ensure a professional result for your clients, recommend these secondary items:

  • Slave Cylinder & Throw-out Bearing: Always replace the slave cylinder (#24237634) during a clutch swap.

  • Remote Speed Bleeder: A 36-inch or 48-inch remote bleeder line is highly recommended, as the C7 slave bleeder is nearly impossible to reach once the car is reassembled.

  • Pilot Bearing: While the kit includes a throw-out bearing, it often does not include the pilot bearing (#12557583). This should always be a fresh GM or Timken unit.
