Technical Specifications (BMW Fitment)

For most BMW applications, these wheels were produced with the following specifications:

  • Size: $17\times8″$

  • Bolt Pattern (PCD): $5\times120$ mm

  • Typical Offset (ET): $+15$ mm (Aggressive/E30 M3 spec) or $+35$ mm (Standard E36/E46 spec)

  • Center Bore: $72.56$ mm (Standard BMW)

  • Construction: Single-piece cast aluminum alloy

Fitment Guide

Because these wheels are from the 90s, their offset dictates which BMW they fit best:

  • E30 M3: The $17\times8$ ET15 is considered a period-correct “holy grail” fitment for the E30 M3. It sits flush with the box flares without needing spacers.

  • E36 / E46 3-Series: If the wheels have a higher offset (around ET35), they are a direct fit. If they are the ET15 version, they will poke out significantly and may require rolled fenders and stretched tires.

  • E34 / E32 / E38: These 5, 7, and 8-series models typically use lower offsets (ET10–20), making the ET15 version of these wheels a great fit.

What to Look For

If you are buying or selling a set of five, pay close attention to the Center Caps. The Hockenheim R is defined by its multi-piece cap assembly:

  1. The Plate: Covers the lug holes.

  2. The Hex Nut: Usually red or silver, which threads on or snaps in.

  3. The Locking Pin: A small metal clip that secures the nut.

  4. The TSW Logo: The center emblem.

Note: These caps are discontinued and very difficult to replace. A “set of five” wheels with only “four caps” (a common scenario) significantly impacts the value of the fifth wheel.
