GRP taillights for Lotus Elise / Exige

Greg’s Race Parts (GRP) offers popular LED taillight upgrades for the Lotus Elise, Exige, and Evora. Their current flagship is the V4 LED series, which addressed the brightness concerns of the previous V3 models.

1. GRP V4 LED Taillights

The V4 units are a “Plug and Play” modern alternative to the aging OEM halogen or early LED units. They are characterized by a sharp LED halo ring for running lights and a high-intensity center for brake and turn functions.

• V4 Improvements: Features a projected light output (sharper ring) rather than the older diffused style. They are significantly brighter in direct sunlight, reducing the risk of being rear-ended.

• Design: These use UV-stable acrylic lenses that won’t yellow over time and CNC-machined dark center lenses to hide the turn signal LEDs when off.

• Fitment:

  • Set of 4: For the S2 Elise/Exige (2001–2011) and early Evora.

  • Set of 2: For the S3 Elise (Cup/Sprint), Exige V6 (380+), and later Evora/3-Eleven models that use a two-light factory setup.

2. Customization Options

When ordering GRP lights, you typically choose based on your regional road laws and aesthetic preference:

• Turn Signal Color: Available in Yellow or Orange/Amber.

• Reflectors: Optional. Some regions require a reflective element in the lens to be road-legal. GRP can install these discreetly inside the unit.

• Wiring Options: On 4-light sets, you can often choose if you want all four rings to illuminate as running lights (a popular mod for US cars) or retain the factory “outer-only” running light logic.

3. Installation & Technical Notes

• Simple Swap: Installation is straightforward. You pull back the trunk carpet, remove two 8mm nuts per light, and swap the connectors.

• Hyper-Flash: LED lights draw less current than bulbs. Most GRP kits include a replacement flasher relay to prevent the turn signals from blinking too fast (hyper-flashing).

• Reverse Lights: Note that GRP V4 units do not have built-in reverse lights. On S2 cars, you usually retain your factory reverse lamp in the lower diffuser or use a separate LED bolt-style reverse light.
