The part numbers A117M0091S (Left) and A117M0092S (Right) refer to the OEM Lotus headlamp bracket and projector assemblies for the Series 2 (S2) Elise and Exige (2005–2007).

While the original units use halogen bulbs, there are two distinct ways to achieve “LED headlights” for these specific brackets.

1. The “Legal” Way: Complete LED Projector Kits

Since the A117M part numbers represent the bracket and housing, the most effective upgrade is to replace the entire internal projector unit with a dedicated LED projector. Unlike a simple bulb swap, these are road-legal in most regions because they have a tested and defined beam pattern.

  • Greg’s Race Parts (GRP) LED Upgrade Kit: A popular plug-and-play solution specifically for 2005–2007 models. It replaces the stock halogen projectors within your existing clamshell mounts.

    • Features: Includes DRL (Daytime Running Light) functionality and high/low beam LED projectors.

    • Price: Approximately $1,349 – $1,499.

  • Elise Shop / PNM LED Kits: These European-based specialists offer complete sealed LED units. They are E-marked and DOT/SAE approved, ensuring they pass MOT or equivalent inspections.

    • Price: Roughly €320 – €400 per pair.

2. The “Budget” Way: LED Bulb Conversions

You can retain your original A117M0091S/92S housings and simply swap the H1 (Dipped) and H7 (Main) halogen bulbs for LED versions.

Warning: In many regions (including the UK and parts of Europe), fitting an LED bulb into a housing designed for halogen is technically a failure for road inspections (MOT) because the light scatter can blind oncoming traffic.

  • Fitment Note: S2 Lotus headlamps are extremely tight. Many high-output LED bulbs have large cooling fans on the back that will hit the inside of the front clamshell, making it impossible to re-install the access panel. Look for “fanless” or “compact” LED bulbs specifically.

3. Price & Availability for A117M0091S / A117M0092S

If your actual brackets are broken, finding brand new OEM replacements is difficult as they are often backordered or discontinued.

Item Condition Estimated Price
OEM Bracket/Housing (Used) Pre-owned $300 – $450 per side
OEM Bracket/Housing (New) New Old Stock $2,200+ (if available)
LED Projector Retrofit New Aftermarket $1,350 (complete kit)

Installation Insight

To access these units, you must remove the front wheels and the plastic wheel arch liners. There are three main adjustment/mounting studs. If your original studs are rusted or snapped, you may need a Headlight Refurbishment Kit, which includes stainless steel studs and adjustment springs, as the A117M assemblies do not always include new hardware.
