Lotus world, a “Kompressor” (Supercharger) kit is the gold standard for transforming the power delivery of the Elise and Exige. Since Lotus used different engines across various generations, the kit you need depends entirely on what’s under your engine lid.

As of early 2026, here are the primary options for each engine type:

1. Toyota 2ZZ-GE (Series 2 Elise 111R / Exige S)

This is the most popular engine for supercharging. The 2ZZ is famous for its high-revving nature, and adding a “Kompressor” fills in the torque dip before the cam change.

  • BOE Revolution (REV400 TVS): Widely considered the “ultimate” kit. It uses an Eaton TVS1320 blower and includes an air-to-water charge cooler. It can reliably push a stock engine to 300–330 whp, or over 400 hp with built internals.

  • InoKinetic Katana 3: The latest evolution of the legendary Katana kit. It’s designed to be simple, reliable, and lightweight. It uses a TVS900 blower and is a great “plug-and-play” option for those wanting roughly 260–270 hp without the complexity of an intercooler.

  • Komo-Tec (Turbodrive): Based in Germany, Komo-Tec offers several phases (e.g., 280S, 300, 320). Their kits are exceptionally well-engineered for TUV compliance and long-term track durability.

2. Toyota 1ZZ-FE (Series 2 Elise S)

The 1ZZ engine (134 hp stock) responds incredibly well to forced induction because of its long-stroke, torque-heavy design.

  • Monkeywrench Racing (MWR) TVS900 Kit: A bolt-on solution that brings the 1ZZ up to 190–220 hp. It’s a relatively simple install (6–8 hours) and drastically improves the car’s mid-range punch.

  • Komo-Tec 190/215: Similar to their 2ZZ offerings, these kits provide a very OEM-like feel and are often paired with a specialized ECU reflash.

3. Toyota 2ZR-FE (Series 3 Elise S / Sport 220)

Since many S3 models came supercharged from the factory (Magnuson R900), “kits” for these are usually Pulley and Tune upgrades.

  • SSC (Simply Sports Cars) V6 Upgrade: They offer TVS1320 upgrades for cars that already have a factory blower but want to move past the 220–250 hp limit.

  • Komo-Tec Phase Upgrades: Common upgrades like the ZR265 involve a smaller pulley, high-flow intake, and a re-map to reach 265 hp.
