Lotus Evora speedometer
Lotus Evora instrument cluster evolved significantly over its production run (2009–2021). Depending on whether you have an early S1 model or a later 400/GT, the speedometer unit and its common failure points are quite different.
1. Speedometer Types by Model
The Evora used two primary generations of instrument clusters:
-
S1 Evora & Evora S (2009–2014): These units feature two main analog dials (Speed and Tach) with red/white illumination and two small LCD screens on either side. They are known for a more “classic” font and a white-faced dial option on some special editions.
-
Evora 400, 410, & GT (2016–2021): The facelift models received a modernized cluster with revised graphics, a higher-resolution central information display, and a different “startup” sweep animation. These are generally more robust but are not plug-and-play with S1 cars due to different wiring loom pinouts.
2. Common Issues
If you are looking for a replacement because your current unit is failing, these are the most frequent culprits:
-
LCD Pixel Failure: The side screens on S1 models can suffer from “bleeding” or fading segments, especially in hot climates.
-
Calibration Drift: Some owners report the analog needle becomes slightly “lazy” or offset from the digital speed readout. This is often a stepper motor issue.
-
Backlight Dimming: The LED backlighting can flicker or fail in sections.
-
TPMS Warning Gremlins: The instrument cluster acts as the hub for the Tire Pressure Monitoring System; internal software glitches can cause persistent (and false) TPMS warnings.
3. Part Numbers & Market Value
Finding these units new is difficult as Lotus has transitioned to supporting the Emira. Most are sourced via specialist recyclers.
| Model Series | Common Part Number | Estimated Price (Used) |
| Early S1 (MPH) | A132N0001F | $700 – $950 |
| Early S1 (KPH) | A132N0002F | $650 – $900 |
| Evora 400/GT | B132N0014F | $1,200 – $1,600 |
4. Programming & Mileage
Important: The vehicle’s total mileage is stored within the Instrument Cluster itself.
-
If you install a used speedometer, it will display the mileage of the donor car, not your car.
-
Synchronizing a new or used cluster to your car’s actual mileage typically requires a specialist with the Lotus Techline or vSNT diagnostic tool.
