MERCEDES G CLASS 463 FULL LED HEADLIGHTS LEFT RIGHT W463
Multibeam LED | Night Package (Black) | 2018–2026
The lighting for the G-Class underwent a massive transformation with the 2018 “W463A” redesign. For 2024–2026 models, the Multibeam LED (Code L57) remains the top-tier lighting technology, featuring 84 individually controllable LEDs and the signature circular daytime running light (DRL) that doubles as a sequential indicator. MERCEDES G CLASS 463 FULL LED HEADLIGHTS LEFT RIGHT W463
Genuine Part Numbers & Versions
There are two primary styles of genuine LED headlights for the modern G-Class: Clear/Chrome (Standard) and Smoked/Black (Night Package).
Technical Intelligence: Multibeam vs. LED High Performance
-
Multibeam LED (Code L57): These are “Matrix” lights. They can mask out oncoming traffic while keeping high beams active elsewhere. They are identified by the “MULTIBEAM LED” lettering inside the housing.
-
LED High Performance: These offer the same look (circular DRL) but lack the adaptive matrix shading.
-
The “Night Package” (Code NP1/5U7): These units feature a dark-tinted internal housing and a dimmed DRL ring. They are standard on the G63 AMG and optional on the G500/G550.
Retrofit & Conversion Intelligence
Critical Note for 1990–2017 W463 Owners:
The “W464-Look” Retrofit: Many owners of older G-Wagons want the new circular LED look. Genuine W463A headlights will not fit the older chassis without extensive body modification.
Aftermarket Solutions: Brands like Hella (the OEM manufacturer) and various “Style” manufacturers offer plug-and-play LED kits for older G-Wagons that mimic the modern look but use the older mounting points.
Coding Requirement: For a genuine W463A to W463A swap (e.g., replacing a damaged light), the new unit must be SCN Coded using Mercedes XENTRY. Without coding, the DRL may flicker or the high beams may not activate.
