The Mercedes-AMG GT R (C190) and GT C (R190) offer the most extreme seating options in the AMG lineup. While standard GT models feature “Performance Seats,” the GT R and GT R PRO models are famous for their Fixed-Back Shell Seats, manufactured in collaboration with RECARO. These seats use a Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GRP) or Carbon Fiber shell to provide maximum body support and weight reduction for high-G track maneuvers.

• Recaro Engineering: Designed as a “tailor-made suit,” these seats offer integrated headrests and aggressive side bolsters to stabilize the torso against lateral forces.

   

• Material Mix: High-spec sets feature Exclusive Nappa Leather on the outer bolsters and DINAMICA microfibre in the center for maximum grip.

• Contrast Stitching: GT R models typically feature Yellow or Crystal Grey contrast stitching with matching AMG logos embroidered in the headrests.

• Belt Pass-throughs: The bucket seats include modified slots for 3-point belts and are compatible with the 4-point AMG racing harnesses (standard on GT R Pro).

• Chassis: Compatible with all C190 (Coupe) and R190 (Roadster) models.

• Manual vs. Electric: If swapping from electric Performance Seats to manual Buckets, you will likely need a “Bypass” or “Emulator” for the seat occupancy sensors and motor plugs to prevent SRS (Airbag) warning lights on the dash.

• Space Constraints: Because the GT R is a mid-front engine car with a large transmission tunnel, the bucket seats are quite narrow. They are designed for an ergonomic “in the seat” feeling rather than “on the seat.”

Expert Installation Tip: When retrofitting these seats, always check the VIN-specific compatibility. The bucket seats (Code 244) are typically not compatible with the Memory Package (Code P64) or Heated Seats (Code 873) because the thin shell lacks the space for heating elements and motor controllers.
