STEERING WHEEL PORSCHE CAYENNE/PANAMERA GTS 2011-2016

For the Porsche Cayenne (958.1/958.2) and Panamera (970.1/970.2) GTS models from 2011 to 2016, the steering wheel is a focal point of the GTS interior, often featuring Alcantara (Race-Tex) and distinctive alloy paddles.

These two models share the same steering wheel architecture, meaning a wheel from a 2013 Panamera GTS will physically and electronically fit a 2013 Cayenne GTS.

1. The Two Primary Styles

During this era, Porsche offered two distinct steering wheel designs for the GTS:

A. The SportDesign Steering Wheel (Standard on GTS)

This is the “classic” GTS look. It is a 3-spoke wheel characterized by its minimalist design and silver-colored galvanized twin-spoke covers.

• Paddles: Fixed alloy “flappy paddles” (Right = Up, Left = Down).

• Indicators: Features two small LED displays in the top horizontal spokes that light up with “SPORT,” “SPORT PLUS,” and “LAUNCH CONTROL” when active.

• Rim: Usually finished in Alcantara (Race-Tex) with a top-center 12 o’clock marker, though smooth leather was an option.

B. The Multi-Function Steering Wheel (Optional)

This wheel prioritizes convenience over the “race” aesthetic.

• Controls: Includes rollers and buttons for volume, phone, and instrument cluster navigation.

• Shifting: Instead of paddles, it uses thumb-sliders (Push forward to upshift, pull back to downshift).

• Rim: Almost always smooth leather; rarely Alcantara.
