For the third-generation Bentley Continental (W12 models), Bentley moved away from the traditional ZF torque-converter automatics to a high-performance 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (PDK). This unit is shared with the Porsche Panamera (971 platform) but features Bentley-specific software and reinforced internals to handle the W12’s 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.

  • Software Pairing: If replacing the TUP gearbox with a used unit, the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) is under Component Protection. It must be unlocked and “taught-in” to the vehicle’s VIN using Bentley ODIS software, or the car will not move.
