19×9.5″ and 20×10.5″ BMW M4 GTS Style 681M Carbon Compound Wheels
BMW Style 681M is a mechanical masterpiece and one of the rarest factory wheels ever offered. These “M Carbon Compound” wheels were a high-tech option for the F82 M4 GTS, representing the first time a series-production vehicle featured a hybrid carbon fiber and aluminum construction.

1. Technical Specifications
Unlike standard wheels, these utilize a multi-piece hybrid construction: the spokes are forged aluminum (made by Otto-Fuchs), while the outer rim barrel is made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) (produced by Mubea Carbo Tech).
-
Front (6873426): $19\times9.5″$ ET29
-
Rear (6873427): $20\times10.5″$ ET42
-
Bolt Pattern: $5\times120$ mm
-
Center Bore: $72.56$ mm
-
Weight Savings: Shaves approximately 15.4 lbs (7 kg) of unsprung and rotating mass compared to the already-lightweight forged aluminum Style 666M wheels.
2. Fitment & Performance
This staggered 19″/20″ diameter setup was specifically tuned for the M4 GTS to improve steering response and reduce rotational inertia.
-
Direct Fit: F80 M3, F82 M4, and F87 M2.
-
Tire Pairing: Originally fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires ($265/35\text{R}19$ front and $285/30\text{R}20$ rear).
-
G8X Note: These will not fit the newer G80/G82 M3/M4 models without adapters, as the newer chassis uses a $5\times112$ bolt pattern.
3. The “Carbon” Risks
While they are a crowning jewel for a GTS, they come with unique maintenance concerns:
-
Repairability: Unlike aluminum wheels, if the carbon barrel is cracked or severely delaminated from a curb strike, it cannot be repaired.
-
Discoloration: Over time, the resin in the CFRP can show slight yellowing or discoloration if exposed to extreme heat or UV—this is a known aesthetic aging trait.
-
Cost of Replacement: A single replacement wheel from BMW can cost upwards of $5,000, making a full set an incredibly high-stakes asset to daily drive.
